19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
